Orthodontics: Case 30
Description
Patient says her upper front teeth look like a triangle. She also doesn't like the lower anterior crowding. Since we could not come forward to correct the lower anterior crowding and patient didn't like the idea of extractions, we opted to push the lower molars back with an appliance and at the same time to expand the upper molars with a separate appliance to correct the posterior crossbite. Straight wire ortho appliances were placed; however we did end up having to extract two upper premolars. We were able to push the lower molars back enough to correct the lower anterior crowding and round out the upper arch to remove the triangle effect the patient was displeased with.
