Smiling man

Dental Implants

Many of our Carthage, MS, patients suffer from missing teeth, making it challenging to eat, speak, and smile with confidence. Drs. David C. Henderson and Laura Katherine Henderson Jones can restore your smile and self-confidence with natural-looking dental implants. Why are dental implants the best option for tooth replacement?

Dental Implants Promote a Better Quality of Life  4 Benefits of Treatment

Appearance

Your smile is one of the first things that people notice about you and often makes the difference between a good and bad first impression. With dental implants, you can take pride in your appearance once again, with a full smile that looks virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth.

Oral Health

Dental implants provide several important benefits for your oral health. Unlike traditional dentures and bridges that only replace the visible crown of the tooth, implants restore the missing tooth roots. This stimulates the jaw and helps prevent painful conditions like gum recession and jaw atrophy.

Dental Function

Implants are hands down the most stable tooth replacement method, as they secure to your jawbone and become a permanent part of your anatomy. You will be able to eat all of your favorite foods again and will never worry about your restoration sliding around or slipping out of place.

Durability

Our implant-supported restorations are custom-made with premium materials and can last much longer than removable dentures and other traditional restorations. Meanwhile, with good dental care, your implants themselves are likely to last for the rest of your life.

If You Are Missing Teeth,
You Are Not Alone

Tooth loss statistic

*According to the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research

While tooth loss can be an embarrassing problem, it is more common than you think. An estimated 120 million people in the United States are missing at least one tooth.

Consultation

We begin your treatment with a consultation to determine your candidacy. Our dentists will take detailed x-rays to assess your oral structures and determine if you need any preliminary procedures to ensure your implants are successful. We will then discuss your treatment options and schedule your implant surgery.

Implants

Dr. Henderson makes sure that your treatment experience is as seamless as possible by working in close collaboration with skilled local periodontists and oral surgeons. During a minor surgical procedure, titanium implants are carefully placed in your jaw and the treatment site is closed with stitches.

Osseointegration

Over the next four to six months, the titanium implants fuse with the jawbone in a process known as osseointegration. Don't worry–you won't be without teeth during this time. Dr. Henderson does immediate dental implant restorations, placing a temporary prosthetic to fill your smile throughout this recovery period.

Abutments

Once osseointegration is complete, you will undergo a second procedure to attach abutments onto the implant posts. Abutments are small components that fix your future implant-supported crown, bridge, or denture securely in place.

Restoration

After allowing your gums to heal for a few weeks, you will be ready for your permanent restoration. We work with a trusted dental lab to handcraft stunning crowns, bridges, and dentures from the highest quality materials. At your last appointment, we will attach the restoration to the abutments and show you the incredible final results.

If you have questions or concerns at any time during your dental implant treatment, do not hesitate to contact our Carthage office. Our friendly team will be happy to assist you with anything you need.
